What’s Inside

Mirza Ahmad Ispahani (1898–1986) was a prominent Bangladeshi businessman and philanthropist from the renowned Ispahani family, originally of Perso-Bengali heritage. He was the head of the Ispahani business empire (M.M. Ispahani Limited) and also co-founded Orient Airways, later becoming the first chairman of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). In 1960, driven by his commitment to social welfare and public health, he established the Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital in Dhaka as a not-for-profit eye care institution dedicated to providing quality ophthalmic services to all segments of society, especially the underprivileged. The hospital has since grown into Bangladesh’s largest multispecialty eye care center and continues his legacy of service and philanthropy.
